Heavy rains lash Jammu region


Heavy rains at the fag end of the monsoons, which have been continuing since yesterday, have brought down the temperature considerably in Jammu region. However, rains disrupted life in Jammu region, especially in the plains and foothills, where heavy rains not only caused water logging and destruction of property.

An elderly woman also died after a boundary wall of her house collapse due to rains at Arnia today.Owing to heavy and intermittent rains in many parts, the water level in the river Tawi also saw a steep rise. The power supply was also affected in some parts of the city and adjoining areas. Heavy rains left many drains and nallahs choked. Water logging was also witnessed at many places in the city, which caused great inconvenience to the school going children as well as to the office goers.

Due to heavy rains, a 85 year old woman Shanti Devi of village Gandli in Arnia died as the fencing wall of the house collapsed while she was sitting besides that. 
  
In Jammu city, a rainfall of 82mms was recorded till 8:30 am in the morning and from 8:30 till 5:30 pm evening a rainfall of 3mms has been recorded. Whereas, outside the city  in Chatha, 8mms of rainfall has been recorded from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm in the evening.  It will be partially cloudy with isolated rainfall at some places tomorrow, according to the weather forecast.
