The Vijeshwar Panchang (almanac) for year 2012-2013 was released at a simple but impressive function organized by Vijeshwar Jyotshi Karyalya here today.
It is the 328th edition of the Panchang, which was released by Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsang Ashram in presence of a galaxy of intellectuals and members of Kashmiri Pandit community.
The welcome address was made by Pt Omkar Nath Shastri chairman Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanaskritik Shodh Sansthan and editor in chief of the Panchang. He highlighted role played by the Vijeshwar Panchang in preserving the Kashmiri Pandit culture and traditions and fastening the links of community to its roots.
He said the essence of the Vijeshwar Panchang has increased to such an extent that KPs all over globe make a demand for the supply of the same from India.
Swami Kumar Ji also highlighted the significance of Vijeshwar Panchang for Kashmiri Pandits. He said it has acted as a religious granth for the community for hundreds of years together.
The others who spoke included B L Bhat ex MLC. Those present included Jyotshi Bushan Lal Shastri and Jyotshi Avtar Krishan Shastri.
